AS&E provides engineering and software expertise specifically tailored to help expedite product development and implementation in the marketplace. Team

Ken Hutchison, P.E.

President and founder of AS&E, with over 25 years of experience architecting, developing, implementing and supporting computerized automation systems. Ken’s extensive background includes the steel, chemical, paint and lighting industries. His professional experiences include design and implementation of ERP systems, business process and productivity improvement solutions, process control and monitoring systems, and LAN network.

Kathy Harrington

Kathy has been the office manager of AS&E since 1999. She handles all purchasing activity, accounts payable and receivable for the company. Prior to taking this administrative post, Ms. Harrington taught elementary school, served as a paralegal for a trial attorney, worked for a graphic design firm, and was co-owner of Universal Computer Remarketers.

Todd Hansel

With previous experience in the aircraft engine, satellite television and video imaging industries, Todd has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, marketing, sales and management. Todd holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Ohio State University and MBA (Marketing/Finance) from Xavier University.

Kurt Haas

With AS&E over 10 years, Kurt has extensive experience with machine vision systems, motion control, user interface development and web development. He is fluent in C++, C# and VB.NET, Windows API, and SQL Server. Kurt holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Duke University.

Brad Vandrasik

Brad started with AS&E in 1997. As a MCSD, Brad’s expertise includes VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server, SSRS, MS Access, embedded system development, networking, and end-user support. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and is also experienced working with OPC development, Linux platform development, and machine vision systems.

Marcy Sykes

Working with AS&E since 2001, Marcy has spent her entire career in the computer field in various roles including programmer, analyst, project manager, database administrator, and partner in a small consulting company. Ms. Sykes has experience with VMS, SQL Server, VB.NET, C, Fortran, Pascal, Digital RDB, Progress. Marcy holds a BS degree with dual majors in Physics and Mathematics.

Joe Kasavich

Joe has been part of the AS&E team since 1998. He holds a B.S. in Mathematics and has been a process control programmer in the steel industry since 1975. His wealth of experience includes proficiency in VMS, Fortran, C and C++.

James Frye

Jim has been a consultant to the steel and reprographic industries since 1995. Jim’s extensive experience includes system integration, database management, server administration, management of a variety of operating systems, network security, custom programming in C++ and .NET languages, as well as PLC programming. Jim holds a degree in Engineering Physics with concentration in electronics from John Carroll University.

Ben Cain

Ben has worked with AS&E since 2001, after earning a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Akron. His experience includes designing software interfaces that provide a simple and effective user experience. Ben’s development competencies include C# and VB.NET, ASP.NET, Silverlight and WPF.
